Course Objective:
- To develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of the skills required to work as a mechanic on heavy machines, pumps etc. by virtue of completing the prerequisite entry course as specified
- To become fully aware and knowledgeable of the different types of rigs and platforms, their applications and terminology specific to this environment
- To become capable of reading and understanding pipework and process drawings
- To understand the support utility systems that are required by an offshore rig
- To understand and participate in the Permit to Work and Lockout systems that are required and mandatory for maintenance to commence on a rig
- To become familiar with the special equipment specific to an offshore rig, i.e. lifeboats. Cranes, supply boat and helicopter safety and systems, etc
- To perform start-up, shut down, troubleshooting and maintenance of rig equipment associated with Drilling Operations
- To perform assigned tasks in accordance with quality and production standards required by industry
