Ergonomics

Course Aim:

The student should be able to asses the risks associated with manual handling by understanding how repetitive physical tasks can cause injury to the upper body such as sprains, fractures, ligament pain, and bone pain. Based on that, and based on the nature of their work, the student begins to understand the controls for manual handling based on the hierarchy of controls and maintain personal controls such as understanding how to plan the lift and how to use mechanization or lifting equipment to help in decreasing the hazard. Based on this, it’s important to understand proper ergonomics based on the task, individual, job, and environment of the work being do.
